  1. Hi there Peter – I am no techie so apologies for the silly question – it wouldn’t be possible just to use a 3.5mm jack to micro usb connector and plug into the Samsung Galaxy camera with that??

    Best regards…Chris…

  2. Ive been experimenting with the Samsung Galaxy Camera 2
(I got mine form Costco in Australia but this is the Amazon page for reference) http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Camera-16-3MP-Optical/dp/B00HV6KGV4

    The connector behaves differently
    1) Plugging a normal unpowered microphone eg Rode Videomic Go with its own 3.5mm stereo Jack works perfectly and gives very good sound. No cross wiring etc required.
    2) The IRIG – Guitar adapter works just fine, and allows one to have an earphone plugged in as well as the microphone – as long as you remember the IRIG is designed to take a LINE LEVEL input, not mic input (so will need a preamp for microphones)

It looks like the second version of this camera has returned to the general convention of connector wiring so worth just plugging things in before getting out the soldering iron if you have this newer version.
